According to Chef Manjusha Sinha who organizes cooking classes in Gurugram, “One is allowed to eat bottle gourd or lauki, yellow pumpkin, arbi, potato, cucumber, colocassia and sweet potato or shakarkand.
Basically, one can consume any root vegetable or tubers during these fasts.”
Can cucumber be eaten in Navratri fast?
A bowl of fresh fruits and boiled vegetables provides you with sumptuousness and yet abides your fasting regime. While nuts and milk can be had during these fasts, there seems to be some confusion regarding the consumption of kaju katli. Kaju Katli literally translates to a cashew slice. So, you can definitely enjoy Kaju Katli only if it is homemade.
What we Cannot eat during Navratri fast?
- Flours and Grains. You cannot consume grains like wheat and rice during these fasts but there are alternatives like Kuttu ka Atta (buckwheat flour) or Singhare ka Atta (water chestnut flour) that can be consumed.
